Age ~16 · A book with architect ants

    Hello, VB.NET.

A teammate dropped his things on the table after wrestling practice. In that pile, a book with architect ants. Curiosity drew me to open the book and what I saw was not math, not science, not even a story. I wanted to learn more. My first line of code was a Visual Basic .NET "Hello World" in a unknown elective that I was simply curious about. Didn't really know what I was doing — but seeing those two words print on screen never stopped being a dopamine hit. Hooked from day one.

    Moved to Texas

    VB out. Java in.

Switched schools mid-stream after the move to Texas. The new campus only offered Computer Science — in Java. Threw out everything I knew about VB and started over from scratch. Accidentally fell in love with object-oriented thinking somewhere along the way.

    Competition years

    CS competitions.

After-school programming competitions became the gym. Open rounds on weekends, timed problem sets after school, the occasional regional matchup. Speed, correctness, edge cases — building the muscle memory for what "done" actually looks like under pressure.

    Computer Information Systems.

Graduated Texas State with a Computer Information Systems degree. Chose CIS over straight CS on purpose — I wanted to ship software businesses actually use, not prove theorems on a whiteboard. The shipping mindset starts here.

    HEB Grocery · Texas

    Inside HEB's SADC.

First real job out of school: HEB Grocery's Software Accelerated Development Center — an accelerated development center for recent graduates. Years inside the largest private company in Texas learning how enterprise systems actually live and breathe (and break, and get paged on at 2am). The good kind of trial-by-fire.

    Home Depot. And Green Phoenix.

Moved to Austin to join Home Depot. First taste of true scale — millions of transactions a day, hundreds of services, infrastructure that doesn't forgive sloppy work. That same year, on the side, I started taking on projects under what would become Green Phoenix Engineering.

    Tesla

    Then Tesla.

Where "good enough" isn't, and the cost of a bad merge is measured in vehicle recalls. Learned what production-grade really means when there's no rollback button on a million cars. Sharpened every habit I'd already built.

Smaller team, sharper teeth. Defense-grade, real-time systems with zero margin for sloppy work. Code reviews were brutal in the best way. Tightened up everything I thought I already knew.

Green Phoenix was born from my experiences.

I wanted to build things that actually mattered, that gave something back. What I didn't anticipate was getting to do that on the frontier of a genuine technological paradigm shift. Software development never stands still — it's always evolving. AI hasn't just improved how we build — it's multiplied what's possible. Faster delivery, sharper solutions, more value for every dollar invested. Green Phoenix Engineering has evolved into a full-service AI Software Factory: a team of technology experts operating at the edge of what modern development can do. We're not just keeping up with the future — we're building it, alongside our clients while keeping true to our bread & butter: software dev. Ready to start your journey?
